Thrift Shop The Ballard Thrift Shop was established in 1985 as a specific outreach ministry to the community of Asbury Park and surrounding area. The goal is to provide clean quality clothing, accessories, and household items at a minimal cost, or at no cost to those referred by a cooperating social agency. Proceeds are used to support other local church ministries, as well as ministries of the greater United Methodist Church (such as UMCOR). In addition, jewelry sale proceeds go to the support of the Francis Asbury Manor in Ocean Grove, and clothing is dispensed weekly to The Red Cross and other relief agencies. The Ballard Thrift Shop is in operation on Mondays from 10-3, and Saturdays from 9-12. This ministry is indebted to the many donors, from as far away as California, who faithfully support this effort, as well as to the many dedicated volunteers who have sustained and helped this ministry grow over the years.
